What a terrible awful soul-sucking day
I worked the overnight shift lastnight. I like it normally. I do an hour’s work of work and sit on my ass the rest of the night. Last night though, I heard something pop on my way to work. I figured I had just run over a rock or something, but no, it turns out I ran over a road spike of some kind. It was lodged into my tire and ripped a hole in it. I couldn’t plug it so I had to put the spare on in the morning, in the rain, and have the tire itself replaced. I called my dad and he said just to get it and the other tire that had previously been plugged replaced. They’ve been very concerned about my safety in driving a vehicle with a plug in one tire.
So I went home and went to bed and woke up nice and chipper at about 1 in the afternoon. I looked out at the dismal clouds in the sky and my mood instantly soured. I showered, got dressed and headed out to the car to clean it out before I took it into the shop. Can’t have a mess happening if other people are going to see it.
I notice there is a notice on my door. It’s an “order to vacate premises” on the grounds of unpaid rent. I was FURIOUS. I checked my bank account, it was taken out 4 days before the due date. I went to the property manager and he told me to call “Catherine.” I did so and got her voicemail, so I called back, and talked to the receptionist who was a snobby bitch who directed me back to Catherine’s voicemail. I left a message and finished cleaning my car.
2 hours later, Catherine calls me back and tells me that she has my payment on fire, but not Andy’s. There is no record of his payment or his check at all. I put both checks in the same envelope and mailed it myself, and I told her this. She was as nice as she could be and told me to have him check his bank account and get back to her. She apologized for the way things were handled, and told me to call back on Monday because she was headed out for the day. (We checked, his check was also processed on the same day)
My car was finally finished and Mimi was a good as new! Well…she doesn’t drift to one side when I let go of the wheel and she has 4 regular sized tires that are fully inflated.
I haven’t eaten all day — now, I’m just waiting for dinner.
What’s going to happen next?
